Ruth Polk Patterson (August 10, 1930-July, 1988) with Leo Williams beside a car in front of Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. A banner on the right rear side of then automobile reads, "Roots, Achievement & Protection. Little Rock Branch of the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History." After marrying Thomas Edward Patterson in 1949, Ruth Polk Patterson became a teacher for the Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas school system and wrote a book about her family called "The Seed of Sally Goon'n, a black family of Arkansas, 1833-1953" in 1985.
